NEW WORK IN GLASS

For the past six months I have been transforming my photographs and drawings of birds, flowers, natural elements, geometric shapes, stripes and ellipses into glass. The possibilities are endless and the process thrilling. In August I took a workshop in Pate de Verre (paste of glass) with Alicia Lomne, to explore making 3 dimensional work. Stay tuned.

KILNCAST GLASS CLASS AT BULLSEYE

I am taking a kilncast glass at Bullseye. Here is work in progress, casting an artichoke and pepper. The process is similar to work I did in cast bronze but the outcome is glorious luminous glass. I am holding my breath to see what it looks like coming out of the kiln tomorrow.

CAST GLASS ARTICHOKE, PEPPER & BAS RELIEF FLOWERS

After 2 days in the kilns, my cast glass experiments see daylight. I spent about 5 hours grinding the edges and backs to finish the pieces. Twenty years ago I cast an artichoke and numerous peppers in bronze; today I cast artichoke halves and a pepper in glass. There is a thrill here. Molten glass taking shape and becoming an object. There is a primeval fascination and satisfaction in working with glass.
